Jeff finished his Master's Degree from Florida State in 1993. We recently caught up with Jeff and this is what he had to say:
"I manage over $4 million of consumer research for several OTC healthcare businesses including our flagship brand, Claritin. There are two research managers who report directly to me and help conduct dozens of qualitative and quantitative research projects each year to help optimally position our brands for success in the marketplace.
Our marketing research activities include both primary and syndicated projects relating to communication/advertising research, packaging research, new product concept research and positioning and market structure studies.
I’ve also worked in research/planning positions at J. Walter Thompson, one of the largest multi-national advertising agencies, as well two marketing research agencies and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
In the two years that I spent at FSU in the College of Communication Master’s Program, I learned and honed a number of key skills that put me in a position to succeed in my chosen field. The curriculum was flexible enough to allow me to create a custom blend of marketing communication and research method courses. The combination of both theoretical and practical classes helped me gain a solid knowledge base and then apply this knowledge in a number of actual research projects including the Tallahassee Area Media Survey and my thesis.
I’ve always felt that you get out of something exactly what you put into it, and I was truly able to excel by working hard. The professors who taught me were truly top-notch and, as much as I put forth an effort to excel, my professors seemed to match my level of zeal to ensure that I was getting the most of my education."
