This program prepares students for careers in promotional management and public relations. Advertising students will focus on account management, creative strategy, media planning and research skills.

Media/Communication Studies
Students in Media/ Communication Studies will gain a solid liberal education highlighting media studies and human communication. Courses include the study of the history, evolution and the changing state of mass media, communication technologies, and techniques in mass media production. Students will develop an understanding for the economic and social effects of media, including legal and ethical issues. Students in these emphasis areas may pursue careers in media such as broadcasting, cable, advertising, video production, information technologies, as well as preparation for graduate study and professions in law, ministry, politics, lobbying, speech writing, and management.

Students are no longer being admitted to the Mass Media Studies emphasis area after Spring 2007. Current students may choose to shift their major to Media/ Communication Studies, or to complete the Mass Media Studies program.

They will develop an understanding for the economic and social effects of media, including legal and ethical issues. Communication Studies

Minor in Hispanic Marketing Communication
The minor program offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the Hispanic market. In order to accomplish this task, the courses that are incorporated in the program come from a variety of departments with core focuses in: modern language studies, business and marketing strategies/behavioral theory, and Hispanic cultural studies. Students completing this course of study will add to their professional repertoire a set of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that will allow them to successfully plan and execute marketing communication programs directed to Hispanic populations. This program will also provide marketers, advertisers, and the advertising industry with personnel that is qualified for positions targeting the Hispanic market (in diverse vertical markets).

Professional Communication
This program offers students the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree in professional communication that includes a broad understanding of fundamental communication processes designed to meet their educational and career goals. Courses for the undergraduate degree are both theoretically based and professionally oriented. Graduates may receive either Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.
